Development of the OLA (Ontario Laboratory Accreditation) standard began on September 15, 2000 when Ontario's Minister of Health and Long-Term Care (MOHLTC) announced that the Ontario Medical Association (OMA) would lead the development of its quality management program for laboratory services.
